This June, the kids and I accompanied Troy on a business trip to Boston for a week. While he took classes, we spent the days riding the train into the city and explored museums and a few historical sites. Despite the well laid out transit system, I still managed to miss our stops a couple of times and we had to wait for a return train/bus to take us back to the right spot. On our first day, we headed to the Boston Children's Museum to keep the kids busy and stay cool. The first thing they saw when we walked in the door was the New
Balance Climb, which is a 3D puzzle for the kids to figure out. It is 3 stories tall and they stayed there for over an hour!

| Alyssa wasn't sure about climbing, but didn't wait below for long. |
| Ty and Lyssa try out woodworking at Johnny's Work Bench Our second day was spent exploring the Boston Museum of Science. We loved the Lightning! presentation where they discuss and demonstrate electricity with a Van de Graaff generator making lots of sparks and noise. We enjoyed the show so much we watched it twice. The second time, they even made the sparks play a song! |
Another fascinating exhibit is a robot that you program (by linking blocks) to knock down a tower you make.
The museum took our whole day again :) I was impressed with all of the interesting and educational opportunities available at MOS and would definitely return on a future visit.
Our last full day was super hot and of course, we were sightseeing... Our first stop of the day was at the USS Constitution Museum where we learned about life in the navy during the revolution. The girls loved the hammocks and said they'd like to sleep that way anyday.
The boys loved practicing their cannon firing skills too!
On the docks, we toured both the USS Constitution and the USS Cassin Young. We had to go through security to get to the USS Constitution and were only able to walk around the top deck. I hope to go back in the future and participate in a more thorough tour. We had a semi private tour of the USS Cassin Young and the kids got to man the guns.

Our next stop was lunch at Family Kitchen on Bunker Hill St. This is a small mom and pop place (just a bar with stools) with delicious food. We enjoyed everything and loved the owner. It was fun to get to know her. This was the kids favorite restaurant we tried.
Our last stop was Bunker Hill. The museum was closed for remodeling, but the kids enjoyed rolling down the hill.
